Game Description

When Prince of Persia was released many years ago, it was a big hit with action adventure fans across the world. Now, the series is bringing its next title to the GameCube. Prince of Persia: Sands of Time brings gamers to a mystical land reminiscent of ancient Egypt, on a quest of adventure and answers.

Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Gameplay

Gamers will find themselves in a mystical land, somewhere in the Middle East. They will play as the Prince, of course. As the game continues, the Prince steals a dagger, which is called the Dagger of Time. Everything is all and well, until the Vizier of the land coerces the young prince into stealing yet another object of power, a huge hourglass. This in turn leads to trouble, as everything doesn’t go as planned. Sand from the hourglass surrounds the land and its people, turning every living creature it touches zombie-like. The only people who were un-affected were the Prince, Vizier and a young woman named Farah. It is up to the young prince and Farah to save their land, and find answers from the traitor Vizier.

The Dagger of Time will be the weapon of choice most of the time as gamers make their way through the story. If gamers should fail on their quest and die, the dagger can be used to rewind time, and start gamers out at a point moments before fatality. Of course, this will cost the gamer one “sand tank”. But have no fear. These “sand tanks” are easy to recover, and you’ll get more of them as the game progresses.

The storyline of Prince of Persia: Sands of Time is one in which gamers will get sucked into the moment they start playing. However, much of the story isn’t revealed until the very end of the game. Controls within the game are easy to master, and will prove easy for younger games to play as well. Also, the Prince has a myriad of moves of which allow for quick progression. Moves such as jumps and spins are a given, but are of use when used to jump off walls to gain access to unreachable areas, and when used as attacks against foes.

The game progresses at just the right pace and gamers will rarely get stuck in a certain point. As you start each level, a “vision” is presented to them, showing them how to their destinations and what lies in their way. It also shows what critical objects need to be manipulated in order to advance to the next level. Gameplay is linear, and should you get stuck, you can always retreat to the beginning of the level to see the vision once more.

Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Graphics

The graphics are visually stunning and the environments are pleasing to look at while gamers make their way through the story. No detail are overlooked in the creation of the characters.

While playing through Sands of Time, you may even find yourself stopping midway through just to have a good look at the bright environments and characters. The cut scenes are also presented in a high quality manner, and the frame rate doesn’t skip a beat.

Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Audio

Sound effects are very realistic and believable. Gamers will hear the differences of the pitter patter of feet in different environments, and the wind rushing past them as they make their way through the game. Music is only heard when gamers engage in battles, which is unfortunate as the score of the title is very good.

Prince of Persia: Sands of Time - Verdict & Pricing

Gamers young and old will like the gameplay and the story offered by Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. Expansive and detailed environments coupled with awesome gameplay are what make this title worth far more that the $19.99 price tag. A must have for any action adventure fan
