Game Description

In an age dominated by space travel, and warp technologies, the human race discovered a wormhole that led them to the New Eden. The human colonies in this new world faced a cataclysmic tragedy when the wormhole collapsed and all links to civilization were severed with one single blow. Out of the chaos rose five vastly different races that tried to fight their way to dominance. After centuries of struggle and conflict they realized that there were no clear winners in Eve. With a fragile peace offering little consolation to the adventurous, it is the aspiration of each individual to be the power broker in Eve…you are no different.

Eve Online - Gameplay

Unlike most space based games, all five races in Eve are human. Except for the currently NPC controlled Jovian race, players have the option to choose the race they want to represent. Character formation is detailed as you pick your race, bloodline, school, field of study and field of specialization while developing skills and characteristics accordingly. Each race has special features that distinguish it from others but the detailed character formation ensures that you can build a personality to suit your style of gaming.

The avatar creation process is also very meticulous. Just to name a few things, you get to select your face, tattoos and even the lighting to lend the best possible atmosphere to your snap. The downside is that the profile shot just sits there on your interface and has no real role in the game. To top things off, anyone who has disabled avatars isn’t going to even have a glimpse of your hard work with the profile shot.

Money, money and more money is the source of power in Eve Online. Starting out in the Machiavellian world of Eve is no mean task; you have to be daring and enterprising to make something useful out of yourself and ultimately become a real power-player. Yield power through corporate politics or show muscle with your battle fleet, or better still, buy your own solar system and be the envy of the galaxy…But beware, once you get out of the Empire controlled security areas, the only law that applies is that of the jungle!

There is no specific plot to play by. The player based economy, and the persistent world of Eve, depend primarily on the actions of the players. Consequently, Eve is an extremely open ended game in which you can set your own goals, or do virtually anything you can bear the consequences of. This lends more significance to your actions but also acts as a negative point for players who want constant action and quests to complete. Such players are catered to by the NPC quests and corporations.

Eve Online – The Corporations

Though Eve has nothing against the solo players, those who join up with corporations (Eve guilds) get a better start than most. Even as there are some NPC Corporations in Eve, a huge bulk of the Corporations are controlled by the players.

Each corporation follows a set of rules and hierarchy that is compulsory by law. In addition, the Corps can work out their own set of rules according to their goals as well. To make things even more interesting, multiple Corporations can go on to form powerful alliances or declare war on each other according to their policies.

Eve Online - The Economy

The world of Eve is a huge mass of activity. ISK, the inter stellar currency, is the driving force behind this activity. The economy is chiefly player based so the demand and supply rules apply much like in the real world. Once you have the money you can buy practically anything from skills, ships, blueprints to actually buying solar systems!

Buy Eve Online Isk?

As with all MMORPGs these days, it is also very common now for people to buy eve online isk for real life cash.

Eve Online- The Technicalities

Even with a massive horizon of 5000 solar systems, Eve boasts great visuals that can be quite awesome with the multi-monitor settings that allow up to three monitors and supports a resolution setting of up to 2048 x 1536.

The single server ‘one-world’ of Eve means that players from all around the world can play together. However, it also means more downtimes and higher loading times. So players who are not hooked to the game can be discouraged quite easily.

Eve Online – Summing Up

Eve is much more than just a mining game that most people take it to be at first glance. The Eve Universe can spoil you for choices if you really get adventurous with your career. The political power-plays, frail diplomatic relations between the races and the constant urge to get your hands on more and more powerful ships keep players immersed in the gameplay.

Another good thing about Eve is the real time skill learning process. Once you set your character to learn a skill the process continues even when you are not logged in. So gamers are rewarded for their efforts.

Having said that, Eve is definitely not the game for everybody; FPS fans might not like the detached combat system where the ship does the aiming and firing for you. But for the hardcore fans, Eve is addictive and yet undemanding when it comes to actually jabbing away at keys like a man possessed.

Similarly, the traveling times can be annoyingly tiring for most restless souls but others might actually like this as it would allow them to go off to grab a bite before they reach the next space station.

On the whole, the aspirations of real life; being rich and powerful are the focal points of Eve Online as well. So the game can not be regarded as an escape from the tensions of real life. Rather, it can be a practice ground to test what lines would go down best with your boss if you are ever late again!

Eve Online - Cost

Eve currently retails for 19.95$ and, like other MMORPG games, the first month is free of charge. It is definitely worth a go.
