Game Description

You have been thrown into this chaos. However, unlike those weak ordinary people who pass each day by praying, you have the power to protect yourself. In Lineage II, developing a character is not an end by itself. Rather, it is used as an instrument to obtain the power you need to fulfill your will in his world. Become a king and rule over this world. Your own hand will write your own history in this world.

Lineage 2 Gameplay

The game takes place in the large world of Aden. The land where Player versus Player combat is constant, and leveling up is even more so. You jump in the game with five classes to choose from, Human, Dark Elf, Elf, Orc and Dwarf. All are great for combat, but Dwarves are primarily meant to be crafters and tradesmen.

The premise of the game is to level up, and conquer. If you want to have a good edge on PvP combat, you will want to be a higher level, which will take a lot of time and dedication. One of the ultimate goals, is to join and help a player run clan achieve the goal of owning a Castle. Of course, this reward does not come cheap, and you must take down the clan that has current ownership, in order to take over.

Lineage 2 Clans

Each server is heavily populated, and the number of clans is amazing. If you are a more serious player, you will get snatched up by a solid clan quickly. (In Lineage 2, player run guilds are referred to as Clans). Owning a Castle is not the only potential benefit of being in a clan though, as you can also choose to be on a Dusk or Dawn side, in the Seven Signs quest.

Lineage 2 Quests

The Seven Signs quest is one of the largest in game, and you get amazing experience in the process. You and your clan, and maybe ally clans, must fight numerous bosses to get to the final Anakim. If you prove successful, you can cripple an enemy clan's castle defenses, or gain access to a merchant who deals the most powerful items in the game, and more.

There are a ton of other quests at your disposal as well. Some are more worth the effort than others, but that's with any game. Many quests will introduce you to new areas of the game, and some are required so that you can introduce your character to a new class. Overall, the Quest system could be improved as each quest requires you do a fair amount of walking, which can get boring quite quickly. For some quests though, this is ok, because you can kill along the way and earn XP. In the end though, the quest system leaves a lot to be desired.

L2 Summary

Lineage 2 is not all about battling clans or the Seven Signs quest, however. There are so many gorgeous hunting grounds and dungeons; it almost makes the endless level grind fun. No matter what your level, you will always have a cool place to hunt, and be able to get into efficient parties.

As already mentioned, this game has quite a leveling grind. This is good, and somewhat upsetting. For players that are new to MMORPG's, they may get easily turned off. However, because of the hard leveling, only the best players survive and prove successful. Since this game was first introduced in Korea, it's obvious that it's built for that audience. Korean players are very hardcore players, and their accomplishments in the game are outstanding.

If you are looking for a great looking, challenging MMO, no doubt give Lineage II a try. If a rough leveling grind turns you off, you may prefer to try out another game.

Lineage 2 Costs

It currently retails for a great price, and you get your first month free, which is normal of most MMO games. Check it out!
