Game Description

The action takes place in WW2 it’s a first person shooter and you get to control three different characters. The game takes you back into the atmosphere in his predecessors Commandos: Behind enemy lines and Commandos: Beyond the Call of Duty giving you the feel of close combat, spying and gathering information while infiltrating your group in France, Norway and Russia. Some of your tasks are to free a French town from German occupation, kidnap a German general and finally contribute to defeat Germany.

Commandos Strike Force Gameplay

The producers integrate all characters into one mission, each character having special abilities and skills which they all use together making complex missions successful ones. The first character is the spy, who uses stealth and it’s the most interesting characters because he can fight or disguise by wearing the uniforms of the soldiers. Although he can trick the soldiers, if he wears a solider uniform and a higher-grade officer sees him, he will be discovered and killed. The higher the grade of his uniform the lower are his chances are to be noticed. The spy also kills using a piano string, a very silent weapon specially made for a spy.

The second character is the sniper who also has some stealth skills but not as good as the spy however he can use throwing knives for killing silently from distance. The bad thing about the sniper is that he has no zoom and you will find yourself searching for positions to kill the enemies which can be very annoying.

The Green Beret is the strongest character and also the best after the spy because he can use two weapons at once and also he can carry bodies, which is not a very pleasant activity but very useful when you don’t want to be detected. He also has some other neat skills like healing himself and the group or throw grenades. While the others are very stealthy, if you like action and fighting you will probably prefer the Green Beret.

A good feature of Strike Force is the way the insert windows are planned so as not to disturb the gameplay. However, the difficulty level is a tad up and down as you can be in the middle of a cakewalk when things heat up and you find yourself in a not so amicable position…but then again, that’s what war is all about.

The real downside is the inefficient stealth because even when you hide behind some boxes the soldiers will notice you if there are little spaces between them. Another upsetting thing is the alert timer which is very odd because sometimes the enemy sees you when you are hidden and on some occasions you can kill right under his nose and he’ll be oblivious to your presence.

Commandos Strike Force Graphics

The game really captured the atmosphere of the WW2 and it perfectly recreated the destroyed buildings or the dust that fills the sky after a bombing. Commandoes Strike Force aspires to be 3d, which is completely different view from the other isometric games in the series, so it uses a graphic engine that allows a lot of enemies on the screen.

Smoke and explosions are lively animated and the soldiers detail is above average The bad thing is that the background is not as detailed as the characters creating a big difference between them but overall the graphics are good.

Commandos Strike Force Sound

There’s not much to say here, the usual war sounds that have been around for ages. The sound of the bullets hitting flesh is one of the most realistic you’ll ever hear, the producers got it spot on. The background effect also sounds nice and builds an interesting sound picture.

Commandos Strike Force 2cent

This game is a bit different from usual FPS games and it combines some non FPS elements so fans will surely love this game. Strategy fans might not be very satisfied with this game because the tactical aspect is not very well made; this is a game for general gamers, the ones who don’t bother looking at the genre but search for the illusive all-in-one game that provides a little bit of everything, and that’s what Commandos Strike Force does. It is an impressive all-rounder, worth looking into.

Commandos Strike Force Price

The game currently retails for 39.99$ US
