Game Description

Do you want to zip past everybody in a high traffic lane or you want to slam a cool looking car in front of you and even get praise for it? Are you someone who is bored of those disciplined car races? Or are you simply a car freak?? In any case, Burnout: Revenge is your ultimate destination.

Burnout: Revenge Gameplay

Burnout: Revenge can be played in both single player and online mode. In single player mode, all events are divided in 11 different rankings. You start with the lowermost default rank, earn stars in each race by driving as rash and as fast as possible, check as many innocent traffic as you can; knocking out maximum number of opponents you possibly dare.

To add to the effect, if you complete the race in first position, you are awarded a gold medal which adds to your star count. Upon reaching a particular number of stars you are promoted to a ranking above and new locations are unlocked.

Although this seems to be a very linear path, the game is designed for everyone right from starters to pro. If you are a new comer, you are first introduced to the basic race after which there are eliminator and road rage events. In eliminator, there is a 30 second time and after every 30 second, last car in the race is pulled off from race.

In road rage the number of cars you compete with is unlimited and you have to win points by slamming as many of them as possible. Another prominent mode apart from racing is the “crash mode” where you are in a place filled with cars and you have to make as many of them crash as possible.

All game modes can be played online where you have the option to form a single team or compete with other players. A particularly exciting mode is the Road Rage mode where teams try to win the race while other members of the team fiercely try knocking you and your mates out to gain points for their team. The game also allows for a split screen mode where you pair up with one more person to play on the same machine.

Burnout: Revenge- Cars and Tracks

Cars in Burnout: Revenge are magnificently designed, with attention give to both the visual and technical details. Although there are a few licensed cars in the game, Burnout: Revenge boasts a number of swanky cars with great features. Cars range everything from having extreme acceleration to great breaking, control and weight to solid build…there is something for every mode and every style of driving.

However choosing a car for a race is not easy. Every car has been rated in terms of top speed, acceleration, breaking power, weight and control. To choose a car depends a lot on the track you are going to race, and there are also times when you have unlocked a car with hefty price tag that gives no guarantee that it is going to be the best one for the particular track.

The cars also have a nice feature of ‘crashbreaker’ force. So in the event that your car is going to crash, you can explode your car by a button. The idea is to take down as many racers with you as possible, earning you extra point. However, other cars do try evading you if you crash to avoid your antics.

Tracks in Burnout: Revenge are nicely laid out with varying complexity, length and traffic features. Even with the alternative paths, half way through the game, track patterns seem to repeat over and over.

Burnout: Revenge Controls

The control on the cars vary, of course, with your skill and the plus points and negatives of the car you opt to drive. You can determine the amount of force and point where you would hit another vehicle with extreme accuracy. There are various power boosts available for particular cars and also button for crashbreaker.

Burnout: Revenge Visuals

Extreme detail has been paid to the cars as well as crash events in the game crashes look very real with precise features. For example when your car slams into other one at high speed from the side, both cars go flying on to the other track with parts flying off in a realistic fashion. To add to the fun, crashes can be viewed from various camera angles.

Doing justice with a high speed car game, Burnout: Revenge gives realistic view of the environment. This has technically been achieved by combining several frame rates along with classic blurring effects of the environment. While most games have been unsuccessful to integrate this element in their game, Burnout: Revenge has surely achieved this very important feature with nice accuracy.

Burnout: Revenge Audio

Attention has been paid to minute details like the sounds of cars swooping past at high speeds and even the gush of air as you drive at high speeds. Sound is always eminent in Burnout: Revenge whether you are driving at high speeds, slamming other cars or are looking at your own crash from a camera angle.

Whenever you slam into cars, the metal sound accompanying the crashes is amazingly balanced with the force of crash. Give the car an acceleration boost and it will sound as if a jet has went past.

Burnout: Revenge Summing Up

Setting itself apart from other car racing games, Burnout: Revenge continues the impressive trend of its predecessors in terms of being amazing in all the aspects of the game. From tighter controls, superior cars and tracks, rich graphics to unique gameplay and excellent audio, this game emerges itself as a true winner.

Anyone who has even a bit of interest in car racing games or those who are bored of ‘type’ games on ‘disciplined’ car races, this game is a must have title which will let you loose and realize your fantasies of aggressive driving.

Burnout: Revenge Cost

The game currently retails for $49.99US at the time of writing.
