Game Description

By joining forces, the highly regarded DUB Magazine and the imitable Rockstar Games have created and presented Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition. As many people who fancy and enjoy high-tech racing games realize, DUB Magazine is considered to be one of the most authoritative and respected publications in the brick and mortar world on automotive culture in print today. Of course, Rockstar Games have the Grand Theft Auto series attached to their name as well.

Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition continues the series that, in the words of its creators, “took racing from the tracks to the open, urban streets.” The latest edition in the Midnight Club series features even faster paced, more intense city racing -- this time in venues including the Motor City, Atlanta and San Diego.

Third Edition Improvements and Enhancements

The most significant improvement and enhancement to be found in Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition clearly is the result of the close collaboration between Rockstar Games and DUB Magazine. When it comes to vehicle customization, the third edition offers avid gamers the most comprehensive set of options ever found in any video game.

In Midnight Club 3, long gone are the fictional cars (as interesting and as exciting as they might have been at the time) that populated the two earlier editions. In their place, and drawing from the pages of DUB Magazine, a player now will find the latest, hottest and most widely sought after real world muscle cars, imports, choppers, high-end rides and even SUVs. You have the added ability of “tricking out” your ride with the same types of upgrades featured in each issue of DUB Magazine.

Along with this significant customization enhancement, the third edition has maintained many of the popular features associated with earlier versions of the product. Players of the third edition can still be challenged by the same game playing options, including the popular open-ended version of Midnight Club gamer’s race in an expansive metro-plex.

Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition - Single Player Challenge

The single player challenge offered by Rockstar in Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition is considered by gaming pros to be the most extensive, challenging and intricate of its kind on the market today -- or at any other time for that matter.

The solitary player begins by racing on the intricate streets of San Diego. (Actually, in single game set, you can take off at speeds topping 200 miles per hour -- and you are not always confined to the roadways.) From there, you progresses through a series of interesting, well developed and unique races not only in San Diego, but in Atlanta and Detroit as well.

Indeed, if a gamer works his way through the entire single game set, he or she will be at the controls for twenty hours. While the initial round of races in the single’s set may seem a bit routine, the speed, pace, and challenge revs up in wild fashion in no time at all.

As an aside, before hitting the road, a player will spend a notable amount of time customizing his vehicle for the races ahead. Again, this feature is one of the biggest improvements to be found in the Midnight Club series.

Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition - Multiple Player Performance

The multiple player version of Midnight Club 3 can handle up to eight gamers at a time. A group of players can enjoy the same basic progression that is found in the single player module.

The third edition seems to have resolved some tics that were present in the earlier two versions of Midnight Club. For example, there is no obvious problem with game lag when multiple players are onboard.

Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition - Online

As with the earlier editions of Midnight Club, Midnight Club 3 has a number of interesting, challenging and exciting online variations as well. One of the more appealing variations is entitled “Paint.” In the Paint simulation, players are challenged by being required to compete against on another in capturing different territories laid out on a map grid.

Other online variations include some of the more standard fare found in earlier editions of the Midnight Club series, including: Circuit, Cruise, Ordered and Unordered races.

Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition – 2cents

On some level, the graphics associated with Midnight Club 3 may come up a little short considering that the creator is the same ingenious enterprise that brought the world the Grand Theft Auto series. However, even with that said, the graphics are solid and combined with the action packed nature of the game and crisp, top notch audio, Midnight Club 3 is worth a play -- indeed, a good deal of playing.

On balance, if you are a fan of Grand Theft Auto and similar action based games, Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition is right up your alley, so to speak. Further, if you are one who is rocked by hotrods and custom cars in the brick and mortar world, your computer and online time will be well spent taking in Midnight Club 3.

Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition Price

The game currently retails for $44.99.
