Ubisoft does it again with their latest title in the Tom Clancy series, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter. Arguably the best looking game seen on the XBOX 360 console, Advanced Warfighter features stunning graphics and audio as well as exceptional gameplay. Even avid followers of the Tom Clancy series will soon realize that this game is by far the best in the series and while the game did not make its first scheduled release, it did more then make up for it in gameplay. Gamers, read on to get the scoop on the latest and greatest release from Ubisoft.
You play as Captain Tom Mitchell of the Elite Ghosts. The group is known for its associates heroic skills and abilities. Set in the beautiful and expansive lands of Mexico City, Tom Mitchell finds himself working for the government, trying to protect a conference between the United States, Canada and Mexico. Of course everything goes wrong when Mexicans attack the conference and Tom Mitchell is called upon to battle it out with them. Tom’s not alone though, a ghost squad is right by his side taking orders and fighting battles. Throughout all of the missions gamers will get to explore the expansive environments of Mexico City, all the while kicking butt and taking names.
The environment incorporated into the game is expansive and detailed, so much so that you may as well lost within the city streets and back alleys while on a mission. Vast land is spread out as far as the eye can see when gamers board helicopters and from the ariel view, you can see every street, building and detail of the massive city.
You will have a multitude of tools and gadgets at your disposal to help them succeed in their missions. Un-manned UAV recon groups can go ahead of Tom Mitchell and his team of ghost fighters to scout out and obliviate any enemies that may be planning to attack. Enemies in the game are automatically tracked in gamers HUD, so they will know where their enemies are positioned and plan how to take them out without causing any casualties on their side. This feature will come in handy multiple times during gameplay, as the city is so huge with lots of hiding places for the bad guys to lurk in.
You will also be able to control the assorted tanks, helicopters, gunships and armored vehicles. Entering and exiting these vehicles is seamless in gameplay and the good thing is that you won’t miss a beat of action as there is no waiting for the guy to hurry up and get out of the dang vehicle. Yes!
The missions are fun, and should be played in all difficulty modes to gain the fullest of respect for the game. Transitions between the missions are flawless, and gamers will barely notice the levels change.
Advanced Warfighter also offers online gameplay via Xbox Live. This is where most of the fun is had, as up to 16 live players can battle it out against 16 AI players. The maps are familiar to the offline version of the game, but are set up differently, and certain criteria can be placed on each map, such as limited spawning, no spawning and many more. This means that each round online offers something new a different than before, so gamers keep coming back for more. Up to four players can also play offline via split screen, so gamers who don’t have Xbox Live can have a little taste of online action.
The graphics are stunning and the environment of Mexico City is beautiful and realistic. No detail is left out in the textures of all of the items in the environment. The sun even changes the lighting of the game depending on what time of day it is, and what position the gamer is in. The cut-scenes in the game are also done really well, and tie in very nicely with gameplay. Advanced Warfighter is one big graphical piece of artwork for Xbox 360.
Audio corresponds with the games graphics, in the fact that it is done very well. All of the weapons in the game sound totally different and very much how the weapon would sound as if it is really being fired. The explosions in the game sound good as well. All in all the sound effects in the game are stunning, deafening and heart-pounding, all the effects that a great game should have on the gamer.
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter is by far the best game that Xbox 360 has ever seen up until this point. Stunning graphics, audio and gameplay pull gamers deep within its story, and not let go until the credits roll. A must have for all gamers.
The game currently retails for $59.99, not too steep of a price to pay for an awesome game.
