Game Description

The Xbox 360 is the game console for the hottest new releases, and the developers at Ubisoft are jumping in on the bandwagon with their release of Far Cry Instincts Predator. While the game was a smashing hit with gaming fans on the PC and Xbox, the new Xbox 360 is a completely different platform for the game to prove itself on.

Far Cry Instincts Predator Gameplay

You play, once again, as Jack Carver, who’s just trying to make a living on some little islands in the Pacific Ocean. However, Jack gets mixed in with a psycho scientist who injects him with some animalistic potion. Soon Jack starts to notice that he’s not himself anymore, and has animal-like abilities that make him stronger and faster then other men. His body slowly changes into half man, half beast and one that’s out for revenge.

If you have played Far Cry Instincts, you will notice that the gameplay is exactly the same in a prettier package. Not much has been updated except for a few new vehicles and objects in game play. However, there is more to this game then meets the eye. When you have played through the entire first campaign, a new game with a new story is un-locked and ready for action. This campaign is called Far Cry Instincts Evolution, and has a total of 8 new maps to play though. You will soon realize though, that this campaign is much shorter than the first, but still is a blast to play through.

After you have finished the two solo campaigns , you will get to sink your teeth into the multiplayer portion of gameplay. This is where the most fun is to be had, as gamers can compete head-to-head online or offline. If you opt to compete offline, four players can duke it out via split screen. However, should you want a little more action; up to sixteen players can play online together on one server. The modes that make up online gameplay are Chaos (which is deathmatch), team Chaos, Steal the Sample and Predator mode. Steal the sample is exactly like King of the Hill, and Predator mode is when one lucky player gets feral abilities and the others don’t.

An additional highlight to the game besides its awesome gameplay is that the map editor has been updated. For those gamers who love to create their own maps, new objects have been added. These maps can be uploaded for gamers all around the world to play via multiplayer. However, old maps from the Xbox version cannot be incorporated into the new game.

Far Cry Instincts Predator Graphics

The graphics in Far Cry Instincts Predator aren’t necessarily updated from the previous Xbox version. It seems that the same style has been used, only in the Xbox 360 version; everything is displayed at a much higher resolution. This can only be seen if gamers are using a high definition television. For those who don’t have this technology, everything will look as it did in the previous game.

Far Cry Instincts Predator Audio

Lovely, jungle-themed music will waft through the air as gamers rip apart their enemies. The score sets the stage very nicely in the game. The sound effects on the other hand sound fake. Guns sound more like pop guns then real weaponry, and explosions just aren’t loud enough. It doesn’t even help to turn on surround sound, as gamers will just laugh at how fake gun blasts sound.

Far Cry Instincts Predator - Verdict

For those who have never played Far Cry Instincts, there’s a lot of content here. However, anyone who has already played the game and is looking for the new stuff should picking up Far Cry Instincts Evolution for Xbox; it’s all of the new campaign without playing through the old one at a much cheaper price, unlike this one.

Far Cry Instincts Predator is steeply priced at $59.99.
